Rebecca is a client and a friend who we are proud to work with.  Over the past few years, we have watched her grow her own successful and multiple award-winning business, Haelan Therapy, whilst continuously undertaking several courses including her Level 7 coaching course most recently.   We are sure she wouldn't mind us saying that she has also grown in her own self-belief and confidence.

Do you have inspirational quotes?

“Onwards and upwards”

“She believed she could, so she did” RS Grey

“The mind is everything.  What you think, you become” Buddha

What have been your Highs & Lows?

Highs

Completing the London Marathon in 2005

The birth of my children in 2007 and 2009

Opening my business in Hitchin town centre in 2016

Winning the Muddy Stiletto Award for Best Complementary Therapy Centre

Lows

Losing two members of my family in quick succession last year

Post-natal depression; feeling that I was failing at the job of being a mum

What do you think is the biggest issue facing women today?

The pressure to be able to do it all;  wife/partner, mother, career

The media depicting what a women should look and feel like in terms of size and body image.  This is creating a generation who are continually judging themselves rather than applauding their uniqueness.

Gender discrimination and stereotyping.  The feeling that just because you are a woman you can’t be what you want to be.

What advice do you have for other women?

To look inward and hold on to the truth of who you are.  It doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman.  If you know deep down inside that you can achieve anything then you absolutely can.

Be bold.  Strive for what you believe in.  After all, once this life is over, it is over.  Don’t miss the opportunity.

Do you think it’s important to have International Women’s Day and why?

I don’t believe that men or women should be applauded one over the other.  We should be raising our children in equal measures.  However where we still face equality issues I think it is a good opportunity for women to come together to show their collective strength which will in turn can create a ripple effect spreading out further to all men, women and children in this world.
